Many parents ask the same question when their child shows interest in sports: When is the right time to start?
The truth is, there is no single “perfect” age. Every child develops differently, and the right time often depends on their confidence, coordination, and interest in being active.
For younger children, sports should focus on movement and fun. Around ages two to five, many programs introduce basic skills like running, throwing, and balance through games and simple activities. At this stage, kids are learning how their bodies move and how to participate in a group setting. The goal is not competition or winning; rather, the goal is to help children build confidence and enjoy being active.
